The board :- its composed of seven members who are providing voluntary services , and accountable to the general assembly. The bord is authorized to examine and ratify all policies. The board is responsible fot monitoring and evaluation of the organization’s overall performance, for raising founds and preparing reports for consumption of the general assembly.
the management body:- the management is accountable to the board and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organization. It undertakes activities based on the plan and budget reviewed and approved by the general assembly.
Dr. Abebaw Minaye, Board Chairman, marks the association’s 10th anniversary by emphasizing that youth and children make up more than half of Ethiopia’s population, making their care essential for the country’s future development. While many stakeholders contribute to supporting children, the role of families remains fundamental. However, with over five million orphaned and vulnerable children in the country, collective community effort is needed to address their challenges and ensure their well-being.
Since its establishment in 2005, Abba Selama Kessatie Berhan Welfare Association has shifted from operating an orphanage to supporting children within their communities, recognizing this as a more effective and sustainable approach. The association currently provides educational materials, clothing, healthcare, and counseling through relatives, supported by member contributions. Despite these efforts, many children remain unreached, calling for stronger commitment, increased membership, and continued support to expand the association’s impact.
